Second Post-Study Work stream (Subclass 485)
The Second Post-Study Work stream (Subclass 485) is intended for holders of a Temporary Graduate visa (first Post-Study Work stream or Replacement stream) who have graduated with a degree from an Australian institution located in a regional area. This visa allows you to live, work, and study in Australia temporarily. • With this visa, you can: • Stay in Australia for a duration ranging from 1 to 4 years after completing your studies, depending on where you studied, lived, and your degree. • Travel, work, or study in Australia during your stay. • Find your own employment while on this visa; responsibility for arranging employment lies with you.
- How long can you stay: This is a temporary visa, and the length of your stay depends on various factors, including where you studied and graduated, your degree, and your living arrangements as the holder of a student visa and your first Temporary Graduate visa.
- Stay longer: You cannot extend this visa to stay longer.
- Include family: Family members can be included in your application, provided they meet health and character requirements. Children can be added until a decision is made, but other family members cannot be added during that period. Your family can also apply to join you in Australia after the visa is granted.
The visa costs AUD745.00 for the main applicant, with additional charges for family members applying with you. Subsequent entrants must pay the full visa application charge. There may also be other costs for health checks, police certificates, and biometrics.
Apply: You and your accompanying dependents must be in Australia to apply for a second Temporary Graduate post-study work stream visa. If you already hold a second post-study work visa and are eligible for an additional 2 years with a select degree, lodge your application via ImmiAccount. Subsequent entrants can apply from inside or outside Australia.
Application processing times may vary, and delays can occur if the application is not filled correctly, additional information is required, or information needs verification. Failure to pay the correct visa application charge may also lead to processing issues.
To be eligible for the Second Post-Study Work stream (Subclass 485) visa, you must:
- Be under 50 years of age.
- Meet specific visa requirements related to your previous Temporary Graduate visa, including holding a valid first Temporary Graduate visa in the post-study work stream or a Temporary Graduate visa in the replacement stream when applying for the second Temporary Graduate post-study work stream visa.
- Have studied with an Australian education provider in a designated regional area and obtained a qualification leading to your first Temporary Graduate visa.
- Have lived in a designated regional area for at least 2 years immediately before applying for the second Temporary Graduate post-study work stream visa.
- Have worked and/or studied in the designated regional area while holding your first Temporary Graduate visa in the post-study work stream or your Temporary Graduate visa in the replacement stream.
- Have adequate health insurance coverage for the entirety of your stay in Australia.
