Qualification Applicable for Extension of Subclass 485 Visa

Grant Period:

– The grant period for the visa is usually between 18 months and 5 years.

– The grant period is the same as your previous visa, except for specific cases mentioned below.

Exceptions to Grant Period:

1. If you previously held a Post Study Work visa for 2 years based on your Masters qualification, you will now receive a 3-year grant period.

2. Post Study Work applicants with a select degree may be eligible for an extended 2-year grant period. Please check the eligibility criteria.

3. If you already hold a replacement post-study work visa and are eligible for the additional 2 years with a select degree. However, applicants with a select degree can only be granted the extended 2 years once, and further applications for the extension will be invalid.

4. If you were previously granted a Graduate Work Stream visa for 18 months, you will now receive 2 years. Please note that this is a temporary measure, so check the current period applicable when lodging your application.

5. Hong Kong and British National Overseas passport holders may stay for 5 years.

Cost:

– The visa application fee is AUD 1,895.00.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the visa, you must:

– Submit your application before January 1, 2027.

– Have held a relevant Temporary Graduate visa that was granted before December 15, 2021.

– Have lost time on your visa due to Australia’s COVID-19 travel restrictions.

– Not have had your Temporary Graduate visa, or any visa granted after you held your Temporary Graduate visa, cancelled unless you requested the cancellation.
